Structure

KATU is an open network, a forum combining the efforts of conflict prevention of Finnish NGO's. KATU doesn't have any formal rules or statutes or membership fees. Any organisation or individual interested in conflict prevention can join KATU.

There are at the moment some 30 NGO's and many individuals cooperating within KATU. From the very beginning, NGO's such as the Finnish UNA, Finn Church Aid, Service Center for Development Cooperation, Finnish Red Cross, the Blue Helmets (UN peace-keepers), Peace Union of Finland, Amnesty Finland, youth, student and women organisations as well as research institutes such as Tampere Peace Research Institute TAPRI have been contributing in the work of KATU.

KATU's chairperson is Ms Johanna Sumuvuori, former MP. KATU's office is located in the centre of Helsinki. For the moment, KATU has only of one full-time worker, Ms Anne Palm, secretary general of KATU. KATU is a member of the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO) and European Network - Civilian Peace Services (EN.CPS).
